The past incident was the focal point that enlightened us. One event could allow all things to fall into place. One confession, one reaction and one revelation. The realization may be overwhelming at times. It feels like a catastrophic loss and we’re all over the place. There weren’t any alternatives, just subsequent events that just kept spiralling downwards.
We are in denial of the outcome being revealed. We may be angry with whatever that’s contrary to what we have desired. We do not know how else to deal with it. We fall into depression because we are not receptive of the changes that took place and may be daunted of the future. We may have a lot of questions and these impending ‘whys’ and ‘hows’ are waiting to be answered. Ambiguity leaves us feeling apprehensive and downtrodden. We can’t fight it even if we try.
Over time we learn to recognise that we have done everything that we possibly could. We learn to accept the way things are and whatever happened because they were always meant to be. With time we are able to comprehend the reasons why things went down the way it did and facing the challenges that may ride on in time to come. With acceptance we are able to appreciate and acknowledge those significances we have fought against.
We let go.
We get glimmers of a larger purpose in life. Because in life there’re no mistakes, only lessons learnt. With every challenge conquered comes continual growth, with each mistake made accumulates every bit of experience. Because ultimately, the greatest lessons in life occur not in the triumph, but in the struggle.
